Description

Masuo Ikeda was a multimedia artist from the Nagano Prefecture of Japan. His works are sought after by high end collectors and galleries, some of the most popular being the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

This book is a 1st Edition of Ikeda's collaboration with the Nantenshi Gallery in 1976 entitled "Mixed Fruit". This "popular" edition was limited to 1500 copies, making this an excellent addition to any collector's library. In "Mixed Fruit", you'll find 9 erotic lithographs painted by Mason Ikeda. After painting the collection, he wrote 9 poems to accompany the works, each named after a fruit. They were originally written in Japanese, but he explains in the foreword of the book that he translated them to English for his wife to be able to read them. In the book, the loosely attached lithographs appear next to the poems printed on a flap in English. When the reader lifts the flap, it reveals the poem in Japanese, as it was originally written.

This book is in very good vintage condition, only showing minor wear at the corners of the hardcover. The spine is still tight, the pages are crisp, and the attached artwork is intact.
